I Also Recommend:
A nutritional approach to improving mood and energy. The author does a good job of explaining how the body's systems (such as blood-sugar, stress response and waste removal/detoxification systems) work, and which nutrients are essential to proper functioning of those systems. She explains the negative effects to our health that occur when those essential nutrients are out of balance (when we consume not enough of the "good stuff" and too much of the "not-so-good stuff") and symptoms of mood changes and energy fluctuations that occur as a result of these imbalances. She offers a wealth of options for finding these essential nutrients in our daily foods, along with a myriad of delicious recipes, some of which may be new to those just beginning to eat fresher, less processed foods. Many of the recipes are actually common to international or ethnic cuisine, from cultures less prone to our overly-processed way of eating here in the U.S. But most of the ingredients in these recipes are readily available in most groceries or at a Whole Foods market. The author also touches briefly on other ways to address mood and energy imbalances such as through exercise and therapy, but reminds readers that caring for your body and mind should be from a holistic approach which "encompasses all aspects of what it is to be human."

This book was a big disapointment. What you are paying for are nice glossy pages and pretty pictures. This book lacks the content it claims to have; it does not cover the various health issues in depth at all. The recipes she suggests to 'combat' various health illnesses are too time consuming and require expensive ingredients. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
