Meet the Author

Photographer Yoneo Morita is well known in Japan for his adorable photographs of puppies and kittens. He uses a technique called hanadeka (“big nose”), which is widely employed in Japanese iconography. This technique shrinks the animal’s body in relation to its nose. Morita is the author of Utterly Adorable Cats and Utterly Lovable Dogs. He lives in Japan.

    Wonderful for animal lovers!

    I gave one to an elderly friend and she thought it was the cutest thing she had ever seen--just the kittens were reaching out to touch her. The glasses can be a bit tricky to use!
