The last thing Heath King wants is to return to Kansas City for the holidays. Being in his home town holds too many bad memories, and now there are new bad memories in the making, among them a sister he never knew about--proof that his father was unfaithful. But the most difficult thing he'll face is running into Nicolette, his best friend's widow--the woman he's loved since the day he met her.
Before Nicolette Morgan has time to fully grieve over her husband's death, a blackmailer enters the picture, demanding she pay him or he'll ruin the lives of everyone she loves. Nicolette sees no way out until she unexpectedly encounters Heath King. When she turns to him for help, old feelings are rekindled and she realizes she never stopped wanting him.
As Christmas approaches, Heath must find a way to stop the blackmailer...but can he also rescue the love he lost fifteen years ago?

Another great read from Alicia Dean. This book, like all of Alicia Dean’s books, will keep you reading from front to back. I like romance books with some crime mixed in, and this book hit the spot. Nicolette is a strong character, who tries to hide her dead husbands past. She’s also a suspect in his alleged murder. Heath, who has loved Nicolette since college and was best friends with Nicolette’s deceased husband, has come back to town to see his family for Christmas. He owns a security company. He becomes involved in investigating her husband’s death on his own to try to clear her. There are a lot of sneaky things going on in this town. Not only does Heath have to figure out if Nicolette’s husband was murdered, but he also has to find out who’s blackmailing her. You have to read this book to find out all the evil that is lurking around. I would recommend this book to everyone.
A little predictable on the the outcome, but an "OK" read.
