Overview

In the last two years since Artemus Newton retired from the U.S. Army after a thirty-two year career, he has had to deal with a Neo-Nazi billionaire, domestic Islamic terrorists, Iranian secret service operatives, a German police chief turned hired-killer, professional assassins, C.I.A. turncoats, a U.S. Special Forces Chief Warrant Officer turned traitor, a United States Senator, mercenaries, a worldwide network bent on the destruction of the United States of America, geriatric Soviet sleeper agents, a 90 year-old former O.S.S. super-operator, and a lovely female C.I.A. officer and her boss whom she ended up marrying.
But, now the fifty-two year-old retiree is in for the wildest ride of his life. Artemus Newton and nine others are trapped in a secluded castle in the Austrian Alps. One-by-one they are being killed and no one knows who will be next and who among them is the murderer.

Meet the Author

Roger Blakely is an Army Chief Warrant Officer Four, currently assigned to the Army Reserve 88th Regional Support Command at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Roger first entered the United States Army as an eighteen year-old in January 1981. Roger spent six months at an Army airfield in Kuwait, 9 miles from the Iraq border during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the desert.
Roger has been in the Army for over thirty years with assignments in Germany, Kuwait, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Alabama and other interesting places and draws upon his extensive military background when writing his novels.
When he's not working for the Army or working on his latest novel, he takes his friends on adventures at a nearby shooting range, dabbles in flying lessons at the La Crosse, Wisconsin Airport, takes occasional skydives from 14,500 feet, plays a lot of online Chess (keeping track of his battles against international opponents in 10-minute Blitz and also against a fellow U.S. Army Soldier named SFC Christopher Mancilla AKA Hot Dog, with whom he has done battle on the real and virtual chess board about a thousand times), visits museums and antiques stores, volunteers at the Tomah, Wisconsin Veterans Administration Hospital nursing home wing where he learns a lot from Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard veterans who have served our country, and was an avid kick boxer until he crushed and dislocated his left shoulder in an accident in early 2009.
If all goes as planned, Roger will finally retire from the Army himself on November 1, 2014,or he may be forced to retire early because of the injuries he received in the accident in early 2009. Either way, he hopes that his retired life does not become as complicated and exciting as Artemus Newton's.
Roger resides with his little black cat (and writing assistant), Newton (age 13) in the town of Tomah, Wisconsin.
Check out his web page at rogerblakely.com and learn more about CHIEF and ARENA, SCOUNDREL and KNIGHT and the adventures of Artemus Newton and PLESIOSAUR and the world of The Matt Chase Adventures. You can also contact the author at and on facebook. He looks forward to hearing from you.

Mr Blakely has done it again

Poor Artie, what has he gotten himself into this time??!! All this guy wants is a peaceful retirement, a nice lady to call his own, and maybe a little adventure --- WOW does he get the adventure part down!

Thanks for not letting your fans down!
