Children's LiteratureOpening with a short but basic introduction to yarns, tools, equipment, and more, this title goes straight to the first of 16 projects. Each project is marked whether crochet or knitting is called for and what kinds of yarn would be most suitable. The patterns are interesting, stylish, and contemporary. They are also well photographed with easily followed instructions and diagrams. Each piece is introduced with worthwhile hints and tips. There are lots of sidebars with further helpful bits of information for every skill level. The more difficult patterns clearly indicate that experience is required for these projects. There is a glossary of terms for both knitting and crochet, which I found to be most helpful with drawings that are easy to understand. Ending with "Resources," which includes web sites and an index, this title would be an excellent addition to any craft section or home library. I am eager to find time to make the "Golden Mesh Wrap" as a gift! 2005, Storey Books, Ages 14 up.
