Overview

Making dishcloths is quick and fun! Even better, this plentiful collection of 15 designs by Julie A. Ray can be knitted—or knooked! The Knook is an exciting new tool, a special crochet hook that replaces knitting needles. It creates true knitted fabric while the attached cord prevents dropped stitches. Knook kits are available at your local craft store. You can also get them from LeisureArts.com, where you'll find excellent videos and free patterns for the knook. In this book, we've included instructions both for knitting and knooking the patchwork-inspired dishcloths. For a very special gift that will always be cherished, sew together multiples of each design, fashioning a cozy "quilt" afghan.

Meet the Author

A Washington native who crochets, knits, and sews, Darla Sims says she prefers to design exclusively for crochet. "For some of my crochet pattern stitches, I'm able to get a look similar to knitting," she says. "It's a matter of thinking differently about where to place the hook while crocheting. You can create the seemingly impossible when you keep looking at things in different ways." Garments and baby items are her design favorites, but she has found herself increasingly intrigued by crochet stitches.
