    BEST BOOK FOR (UNSURE) KNITTERS

This book changed my knitting life. There is no book published today that covers what Mrs. Zimmerman does in this book. This book gives courage to the new knitters out there, while at the same time encouraging experienced knitters to keep it up. No knitter should be without it.

The best knitting book I've ever read

This is an excellent book!!! Elizabeth Zimmermann does not merely provide knitting patterns. She guides you through the 'unvention' process of sweaters, shawls, baby clothes, hats, and more. And encourages you to come up with your own ideas. Mrs. Zimmermann has a wonderful sense of humor, and I think I would have enjoyed reading this book even if I didn't knit. Knitter's Almanac has completely eliminated the 'uptight' feeling I used to have when I knitted. Now I am relaxed and confident that I can cope with whatever comes up. I can't wait to start designing my own knitting!

    From the Knitting Guru

I bought this book last night and it is wonderful. All the wit of the grand lady of knitting is evident in this little book. Patterns are a little dated but techniques are timeless.

It was exactly what I was looking for

I was looking for the Pi shawl. The chapter for July is entirely devoted to it!

Classic Zimmermann, a MUST in any knitter's library

She really does make creating one's own knitting patterns seem not only possible but *actually* do-able - there is a difference! One is daydreams, the other gets you started planning and measuring! Her personal warmth and humor and common sense shine through every page. I have to be honest - I haven't quite got to the skill level I want to be before starting one of her patterns, but oh boy do I have my eye on that pullover sweater...
