This book is such a great reference tool. I use it on almost every knit project I do.
This is great book for a beginner knitter, but also includes very practical advice for intermediate and advanced knitters, such as how to re-size a basic sweater pattern. Personally, as a beginner knitter, I was looking for a book that clearly lays out various stitches so I could gradually increase the level of my projects. It includes a section of stitch patterns that use only knit & purl stitches - I could make my projects a lot more interesting right away, while still practicing the basic stitches and not having to learn any new ones. Directions for each pattern are written out and also diagramed, allowing me to get comfortable with both ways of reading a pattern. The other thing I like about this stichtionary when compared to others is that all the stitch samples are photographed in the same color yarn - an easy-to-see off-white color. A lot of stichtionaries put each pattern in a different color, which I find makes it hard to compare between stitches.
