I love this book. The pictures are great and the patterns are both written and charted which I love. The patterns are great for knitters to want instant gratification. It is a great book for beginners because of the written directions and charts.

What a book! the patterns are delightful and run the whole range of skill levels. The instructions are well written which is what we can count on in books by Nicky Epstein. One thing I really like about her books is that she uses yarn colors for the pictures that are NOT garish, but easy to see, which is so helpful for beginners! (I used to teach knitting). Many of the patterns could easily be modified to make all kinds of things, especially scarves. An advanced knitter can use many of these patterns as a stitch guide to be worked linearlly into many projects. I recommend this book!

Nicky's block by block is wonderful! I originally bought the hard cover book. Nook book is so convenient and I don't have to carry a heavy book with me. I am a fan of Nicky's work. If you ever have a chance to take a class from her, do it! She's a phenomenal teacher. I've taken her class at Pgh. Knit and Crochet festival. Will take her class again this year! Her book is the next best thing to being there. Her instructions are clear and the pictures are great. Jan Bondanella

First of all this book is absolutely beautiful! It is very well made and has a great elegant feel to it. It would be perfect as a gift to any knit lover. I usually crochet but started my skills with knitting. This book makes me want to pick up my needles again and try all these great products. It is very easy to read and can be used by beginners and experts. My only wish is that yarn brands or suggestions would be used to make sure your work turns out the way hers does. Overall though...its wonderful!
