    my first and best knitting book

    as a beginning knitter taking classes in the basics i was told to purchase this book by the instructor. it has great definitions of all the basics and very detailed, step-by-step photos demonstrating techniques. you could almost teach yourself to knit using this book. patterns are great for practicing what you've learned.

    my absolute favorite

    Since I started knitting a few years ago, I have acquired quite a collection of knitting books. I have to say that Sally Melville's book is the best of the best. Not only are the patterns funky and interesting and just my style, they are easy to produce. The directions are amazingly easy to follow and the photography does the designs justice. I love the way she does them up in a variety of different yarns so you can see all the possibilities. Finally, I like that she teaches me about knitting in the book, but also gives observtions on life and how knitting can enhance it. Buy this book, you'll love it!

    Great book!

    I just started to knit and with this book I have been able to knit and complete projects. The pictures are very clear and simple enough for my five year old daughter to understand and also learn to knit. Thanks to this book we are both knitters! Great job!

    Simple and elegant designs!

    I'm currently knitting an Einstein jacket for my daughter and a scarf for myself. I bought the book because of the elegant and timeless designs. It wasn't until I read these reviews did I realize I was only using the knit stitch. These patterns work up fast and are a great fix for my need to unwind after a hectic workday. Because of the single stitch and the simple designs, the projects travel well and I can watch my kids at their dance and sport pratices and work up a couple of inches of work. I love this book. When will the next book in the series be here!

    Sally Melville Rocks

    Maybe I'm a littler over exuberant, but seriously this series of three books (Knitting Experience) need to be the first books you buy for a well referenced knitting library. You will use them over & over.

    Fantastic Book!

    This is a fabulous book to keep in your research library for knitting. It a constant resource for me and has some great gift ideas! I now own all 3 of Sally Melville's knitting books and I highly recommend them all. If you purchase any of them, you will not be disappointed.

    Simple to make, but not simple in design

    Awesome book! Just plain garter (knit, knit, knit) can be boring, but this book makes you take a second look. Well written, easy to read and understand; everyone I know wants an 'Einstein' jacket! I can't wait til the rest of the series comes out...

    Another elegant, concise, fantasitc book by Sally Melville

    Sally does it again. Each and every book written by this talented knitting designer is fresh and packed with information for beginners and experienced knitters alike. You will not be disappointed! I can't wait for the next addition to the series.

    Fun, Simple, and Elegant Designs

    Sally Melville has published a book that I am recommending to anyone who enjoys knitting simple designs with clean lines. Her garments have beautiful drape and the directions are clear. She writes in a fun and simple manner, yet it's obvious that she has given a lot of consideration to what she has put into this volume. The patterns have a commonality and the variety that can be done with a garter stitch is remarkable. Thank you Sally.
