The first in acclaimed knitwear designer Nicky Epstein’s Essential Edgings collection, Knitting on the Edge introduces knitters to over 350 edgings, borders and trims. This beautiful volume contains a wealth of individual project ideas for ribbed edges, ruffles, lace, fringes, flora and garters.

Crafters will find ideas for a variety of skill levels, some simple enough for beginners and others challenging enough for advanced knitters. Decorate cuffs, finish hems, and customize your own unique sweater. Develop distinctive styles and patterns using ideas such as the feather lace ruffle, bel epoque, garter stitch weave, sea scallop edge, sugar drop and more.

Ilene Cooper at Booklist was surprised that “a book on a specialty topic like edgings could turn out to be as useful and lush as this one.”

    It's Not Just Knitting

It's not just a sweater when there's embellishment and--let's be frank--'flair' on the edges. 'Knitting on the Edge' is the quintessential guide to seeing, learning and executing many different forms of edging including fringes, cabled edges, decorative edges and more! In fact, I've knitted for 20 years and have never seen most of the edges displayed in this book. Nicky Epstein, as always, provides clear, concise instructions, and plenty of colored phototgraphs help move the swatch from the pictures of the book and onto your finished products. A great resource manual and a tremendously timely tome. I would highly recommend it!

    I Also Recommend:

    Wonderful, imaginative,resource

Knitting on the Edge has been a wonderful addition to my knitting library. Ideas could be appllied to anyones knitting level. I also own Knitting Over the Edge that I have used and love. These are books that are a must have for any knitters library and will increase your creativity. I found I could apply the designs to even small projects and use up some of my yarn supply. Directions are easy to follow and every design has a photo!

    Great Book!

This is a very useful book. I knitted an edging for a pair of slippers the very first day I bought this book home. I'm definately going to get the follow up 'Knitting over the edge'.
