See how a simple, classic cable hat becomes something special with sparkly beaded details. A beautiful autumn shawl drips with bead fringing, and it's super quick to make. Or jazz up a denim-colored tank top and bag, transform a beret into something oh-so-chic, and dress up a pair of woolen gloves. A basics section details several techniques for incorporating beads into knitting, including embroidery, fringe, and appliqué.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Davis combines her twin loves of beading and knitting in this book, which expands on the bead-knitting material in her earlier Complete Guide to Beading Techniques. Geared to the intermediate to advanced knitter, this new volume covers six bead-knitting techniques, including three methods for adding beads to finished garments (bead embroidery) and three methods for stringing beads onto yarn and incorporating them directly into the knitted piece. Thirty step-by-step knitting projects give the reader ample opportunity to master bead knitting. Some projects, however, are more effective than others. For example, small seed beads appear lost in a cabled hat, while decorative bead embroidery on a felted 1920s chapeau adds greatly to its charm. Another project, the Autumn Leaves beret, shows bead knitting at its best, with its rich colors and densely beaded surface. Each pattern is graded for degree of difficulty, with most being either on the intermediate or challenging skill level, with a few patterns for beginners thrown in here and there. Large public libraries and academic textile collections will want this one. [A Crafters Choice Book Club selection.] Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
