    Pulling the Wool

'Knitting With Dog Hair' contains many interesting tips about using canine clippings as an alternative to the usual materials. In principal, the idea of using dog hair sounds workable, but in practice there are problems. I used the stuff to knit a sweater, but as soon as I'd finished, it started humping my leg. It then disgraced itself on the Persian rug, attacked the cat and ate the canary. The final straw came when it grabbed my 'marital aid' and buried it in the backyard. So no more dog-hair sweaters! From now on it's back to sheep wool. I used some last week to knit a pair of bedsocks, and while the stupid things blindly follow me around all day, even when I'm not wearing them, at least the postman's safe.

    Fantastic and Funny

I bought this book because I had been saving my dogs' brushings for quite a while, thinking I might be able to turn them into yarn. I had no idea anyone else had ever considered this until I found this book, which explains how to do exactly that. There are also projects for knitting with handspun dog yarn, pictures of completed projects, and interesting history. The tone of the book is light-hearted and entertaining. I wholeheartedly recommend it for spinners and knitters who love their furry friends!
