Knock Three Times: 20 Greatest Hits

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Campbell
Knock Three Times: Greatest Hits is a comprehensive single-disc overview of Tony Orlando & Dawn's original hits from the '70s. While 20 tracks maybe a bit excessive for anyone but the completist, at least half of these tunes were chart-toppers, including "Candida," "I Play and Sing," "Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose," "Look in My Eyes Pretty Woman," "Who's in the Strawberry Patch With Sally," "Steppin' Out Gonna Boogie Tonight," and the number one hits "Knock Three Times," "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Ole Oak Tree," and "He Don't Love You Like I Love You."

GENEROUS TRACKS BUT STINGY ON SOUND

At first glance this looks like a great collection. A handful of singles including the original mix of "Candida" and the LP version of "Cupid" with some album cuts mostly from the debut album "Candida". However, the sound quality is very dull. If you don't care about sound quality go for it, otherwise spring for "Definitive Collection" which is more complete as a singles collection.

**** FOR CONTENT-** FOR SOUND QUALITY

This set looks like a good value for the money with sixteen singles and four album cuts including the original mix of "Candida" and the LP version of "Cupid". Although a Greatest Hits album should have opted for 4 more singles instead of the album cuts. The sound quality due to being well treated vinyl or commerical tape transfers-not master sources-is very dull with a loss of soundfield. If you are a die hard fan and/or collector who must have everything mostly for the cover design, go ahead. If you are looking for the great music of Tony Orlando & Dawn with great sound, go for the Encore Collection, Platinum & Gold Collection, or the Definitive Collection.

    more hits

this is another hits cd for tony and dawn ,and basically this is their original 1975 hits lp with a few songs thrown on at the end.but what is confusing is that the 4 extra songs where not hits.you say the sweet est things was released in europe as a single but the others seem out of place while other singles like MORNIN BEAUTIFUL,SING,YOURE ALL I NEDD TO GET BY,MIDNIGHT LOVE AFFAIR,IT ONLY HURTS WHEN I TRY TO SMILE are missing.not a bad collection but incomplete.
