Children's LiteratureChildren learn the art of braiding and weaving string to make friendship bracelets with this book. Step by step instructions and illustrations guide children through 10 different designs for bracelets. Some are simple, such as the "Twin Twister" and the "E-Z-B," and some are more intricate, such as the "Candy Stripe" and the "Sharp Chevron." Attached to the front cover are five sections of colored string—pink, yellow, lavender, turquoise and white. There is a ruler printed on the back cover for measuring string. Although the front cover illustration is appealing, the inside content of this book is a bit bland, printed simply in black and white. The work involved in making these bracelets, which are quite popular, requires fine motor skills and some patience. 2003 (orig.1992), Grosset & Dunlap, Ages 8 to 12.
