My Bible study group had used this same author's Know the Bible

My Bible study group had used this same author's Know the Bible in 30 Days, and I expected this book would cover the same ground, but in fact it takes a different approach completely, focusing on personalities instead of using the Genesis-to-Revelation approach used in the other book. The book starts off with a bang, the chapter "Shout for Joy!" about the most colorful Old Testament character, king David of Israel. For each daily chapter, there is a memory verse Key Term for Today, in this case "joy." Focusing on the memory verses and Key Terms is a helpful "hook" to help keep the different characters' stories in mind. All the most important characters, including the bad ones, are covered, plus some lesser known people. Some of the more important characters, like the apostle Paul, take up more than one chapter. Each daily chapter can be read through in an hour or so, and each ends with 5 Putting the Word to Work challenges to the reader to apply what was just learned. This is a delightful, easy to read book, filled with scholarly tidbits but not written in a dry academic way.
