This is one book in the set, "Adding Assets Series for Kids." Positive Values Assets includes chapters entitled: "Caring," "Equality and Social Justice," "Integrity," "Honesty," "Responsibility," and "Healthy Lifestyle." Each section depicts a social situation in which the main character needs to work on this value asset. Facts, tips, resources, and suggestions are highlighted in shaded text boxes. Students are given several ways to add this asset at home, at school, in their neighborhood, in their faith community, and with their friends. The chapter then shows the main character using some of the suggestions to solve their problem for this specific situation. This book is timely, easy-to-read, and promotes affirmative character skills and positive values needed by today's teens. There is a special "Note to Grown-ups" and a section in the back with resources for kids and adults. It highly promotes the responsibility of the youth and encourages seeking advice from parents, teachers, and adults in the faith community. Special care was given to define the many different kinds of families. I was very impressed with this book and will share it with my teenage niece. I think every home and classroom would profit by having this series available for its children.
