Keeping kosher might put a few restrictions on one's choice of ingredients and require a little extra thought to be given to preparation, but in this latest in her series, Fishbein shows there are plenty of shortcuts available to meals that are tasty yet observant of Jewish law. Following the popular formula of a Rachael Ray or Sandra Lee, she uses small proportions of canned or prepared goods to cut down on time. The well-chosen recipes span the courses using a good mix of the elegant (Maple Walnut Chicken with Sweet Potato Aioli) and the simple crowd-pleasers (Pulled Barbecue Beef; Penne Florentine la Vodka); many reflect international influences (colorful Thai Quinoa, for instance, or Gyros with Rajita), and Fishbein puts some nice spins on a few Jewish favorites, yielding dishes like Mulliga Cholent and the delectable, moist Frosted Chocolate Honey Cake. Fishbein successfully demonstrates that adding the kosher variable to the mix with the current need for speed and ease with old-fashioned recipes doesn't throw the equation out of whack. Excellent kosher cookbook

Recipes are grouped nicely and easy to find. Recipes are easy to prepare and taste fabulous. I never had a single complaint. There is even a list in the back of the book of modifications needed for those that could be kosher for Passover. I love this book!

    It actually got better

I wondered how Susie Fishbein would improve on the previous cookbooks, but this one is the best of the best. The recipes really are fast and easy, not to mention delicious. I've already tried several of them, and I can't wait to try more.

    Good, but can be better...

I think that this cookbook is great but is not for people that work daily. To have this cookbook, you need time and as a daily worker, i did not enjoy this cookbook too much. I enjoyed Kosher By DEsign and Kosher By Design Kids better!

    Over hyped

This book appears more like a coffee table book with its lavish photo spreads. Again, nothing in here I would bother to make and I am a Jew. I didn't like that most of the chicken recipes are blackened in the oven at like 450+ degrees for like 10 minutes. That does not sound good to me.

    GREAT RECIPES/CONFUSING LAYOUT

This nicely ring-bound book features wonderful recipes, fabulous photos, and a description of the Jewish holidays. I would not however, recommend it to readers new to Judaism. The 'chapters' are by food category, as opposed to holiday. In other words, if you want recipes for a specific holiday, you have to hunt through the book to find them. For the new learner, who's being introduced to such food terms as kreplach, rugelach and gefilte fish, such a layout could be overwhelming and confusing. I found it so, and I know all the terminology.

Kosher by Design: Picture-Perfect Food for the Holidays & Every Day

I eat in a lot of different Jewish homes across the country. It's amazing. So many have bought Kosher By Design and declare it to be the best cookbook they own, kosher or otherwise. Around so many Shabbat tables, I hear people saying, 'Oh, I found this wonderful recipe in the new kosher cookbook!' I'm not much for the kitchen routine, but I love reading the book. And so many of my friends have it, I read it progressively from house to house. I can pick up in Montreal where I left off in Denver! Seriously, though. It's a great book. Must have.

Kosher by Design: Picture-Perfect Food for the Holidays & Every Day

This cookbook is the most user friendly I have ever owned. It's like having the author with me as a coach. The recipes are delicious. The pictures are stunning; the commentary on the Jewish holidays is inspiring; the table decor suggestions are imaginative and --- s.i.m.p.l.e. This is a book for anyone looking for easy, creative ways to enjoy really great food. Kosher or not, Jewish or not -- this book has something yummy for everyone. We've had the book in my house for 2 weeks and everyone wants to read it!! It's a cookbook, I tell them. Our kids are really into it. And I'm using it as gifts to family members. Way cool! Kudos to author Susie Fishbein. I'm having more fun in the kitchen now.
