Overview

America has a contradictory relationship with sex. Sex is everywhere—advertisements, the Internet, magazines, and television—yet one third of all marriages in America are utterly sexless. Our over-exposure to sex has diluted the most powerful form of intimacy to such an extent that most couples have forgotten what passion feels like. In The Kosher Sutra, Shmuley Boteach, the New York Times bestselling author, delivers a much-needed guide to reigniting desire in our relationships while at the same time creating renewed energy in every aspect of our lives.

Boteach's Eight Secrets are the key to reawakening our dormant desires and releasing ourselves from the complacency that has taken hold of far too many of us. Honed from decades of counseling experience, the Secrets range from the role of innocence in physical attraction, to why we always want what we can't have, to urging couples to practice reckless abandon in the bedroom. With his trademark frank and conversational style, Boteach offers practical advice as well as sage guidance through stories of real-life struggles and triumphs of couples who he has counseled throughout his career.

Boredom has ruined too many relationships and The Kosher Sutra provides all the tools necessary to restore the fire, power, and energy back into the bedroom and everyday life.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
In his latest, author, Rabbi and host of radio and television, Boteach (Kosher Sex, The Broken American Male) delivers a unique take on what a gratifying sex life can do to improve other areas of our lives. Based on a mixture of religious thought, including ancient Tantric and Kabalistic practices, interpreted for the ideals and expectations of a modern Western audience, Boteach divulges each of eight erotically-charged secrets ("Novelty," "The Chase," "Reckless Abandon," "Beyond the Body," etc.) with extreme wit, while introducing real-life couples whom Boteach has successfully counseled. Boteach maintains that television does a disservice to all modern couples (excluding, presumably, his show on The Learning Channel), not only as a distraction but also as a desensitizing parade of sexual images and language sure to kill off romance. As such, Boteach dismisses lackadaisical notions of modern romance for a more chivalrous approach that prioritizes care over convenience. Curiously, Boteach also laments the waning sense of mystery between genders, killed off by overexposure (beginning with dual-gender elementary schools). Though some of Boteach's principles and suggestions appear outrageous or outdated (or both), he maintains a welcome sense of humor while providing some undoubtedly useful tools for rekindling a sputtering love life.

    Waste of Money

This book is a complete waste of time and money. I saw it on the Dr Phil show, so I figured it must be good. I am very disappointed. Talks about the "perfect" spouse, but doesn't explain much. Don't waste your money like I did.

    Very Enlightening

I recommend this book to all couples! I have a wonderful relationship with my husband but thought there was just something missing, and I found out what it was! This book helped me discover a lot about myself and how men see women. Highly recommended!

    Eye opening

I am almost finished reading the book and know this is how and what I want from my futre relationship(s). I am single but this will be a must read for my future husband. This is the type of relationship I have always wanted and never knew how to get it. Now I do.

    More useful than I expected.

I gave this book to my husband kind of as a joke for Valentine's Day this year instead of a card. I expected him to laugh and put it away. I was very surprised to see that he read it cover to cover. I think he thought it was an invitation from me to explore our intimacy. It has actually worked out that way and he refers to it often. He has even told me many of the suggestions from the book and has used it as a catalyst for discussions about our wishes and desires. Anything that gets a man to open up and start talking is a worthwhile book to me.

Kosher Sutra is the New Erotic Way

Typically I'm not a reader but this book caught my attention on TV. I ordered it and once I got it in my hand I had to keep reading. Couples should read this book together. It really could save your marriage if both husband and wife follow the 8 simle steps. Easy to understand and it makes SO much since when dealing with todays lack of sex and passion in marriage. It covers many areas from affairs to porn and their distruction of understanding, love and desire in a marriage.

    Kosher.

I really liked this one. It was filled with good insights and really didn't over-explain sex like some of the other books tend to do. It's an honest approach that can lead to some sizzlin' sex.
