Overview

Jon Kosmoski - King of Kustom Painters and founder of House of Kolor paint - puts over four decades of experience into the new Kustom Painting Secrets. Jon starts with the basics: how to set up a shop, pick a compressor, and route the airlines. Next, he covers modern paint and the new Shimrin2 system in particular. Jon explains what it is, and how the various Karrier Basecoats and Effects can be mixed to create literally any color in the rainbow. Spray guns, how to choose, use and adjust them, takes up one full chapter. A chapter assembled with help from SATA, the brand known for no-compromise quality and great atomization. No Kustom Painting Secrets book would be complete without at least two, start-to-finish, paint jobs by Jon Kosmoski. The new book contains both a hot rod and a motorcycle paint job. The sequences begin at the very start with the metal preparation, and moves through all the primer and filler stages necessary to make the panels perfectly flat - before the kustom-mix Shimrin2 paint is applied. Two additional start-to-finish sequences include a complete motorcycle paint job, and the application of an extensive graphics package on a brand new Ford Pickup.

About the Author

Jon Kosmoski, founder of House of Kolor paint, can be called King of Kustom Painters. Jon started painting while still in high school, and mixed his own kandy paint in the '50s. Jon was one of the first to offer kandy paint to anyone interested in custom paint - the Kandy was followed by a full-line of custom paint including metal-flake and pearl. The Best Paint Awards Jon collected over the years would fill a room. The first Kustom Painting Secrets book set out to teach painters how to prep the panels, and apply the primer, base, Kandy and clear. In addition, Jon did seminars around the world - teaching the faithful how to get the best out the modern paint. When Jon isn't designing paint or doing seminars, he's building custom and restored four and two-wheel hot rods.

Author of forty-plus titles, Timothy Remus started his adult life as an automotive mechanic. After fifteen years in the trade Timothy gradually spent less time working on cars and more time assembling printed material - first a regional motorcycle magazine, then a series of books for Motorbooks, and finally as publisher of his own how-to books. Timothy also publishes other author's books, and sometimes aids authors by taking most of the photos required for the book.
