Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
As second-place finishes go, this one wasn't too bad: Kristy Starling (yes, it's her real name) was the No. 2 finisher on NBC's Today show talent contest last fall. Her live performances caught the ear of ?ber-producer David Foster, putting Starling's dream of a contemporary-Christian music career on the fast track. Her debut shows the singer's powerful vocal ability, which moves effortlessly from Jewel-like girlishness to Michelle Branch?style intensity. Though Foster (Whitney Houston, Celine Dion) is known for buffing his female singers to a high sheen, thankfully Starling is spared such heavy-handedness. Gentle ballads like "As Long as We're Here" and "You Love Me like...

Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
As second-place finishes go, this one wasn't too bad: Kristy Starling (yes, it's her real name) was the No. 2 finisher on NBC's Today show talent contest last fall. Her live performances caught the ear of über-producer David Foster, putting Starling's dream of a contemporary-Christian music career on the fast track. Her debut shows the singer's powerful vocal ability, which moves effortlessly from Jewel-like girlishness to Michelle Branch–style intensity. Though Foster (Whitney Houston, Celine Dion) is known for buffing his female singers to a high sheen, thankfully Starling is spared such heavy-handedness. Gentle ballads like "As Long as We're Here" and "You Love Me like That" are given delicate acoustic treatment, showing Starling's crystalline vocals to their best advantage. With impressive range, Starling effortlessly pulls off an easy R&B production like "Must Have Been Angels" and the powerful anthem "There Will Come a Day." That kind of handling gives Kristy Starling great personality and flair and, even better, distinguishes the artist from the clutter of polished female pop divas out there. This is a first-place finish for Kristy Starling.
All Music Guide - Aaron Latham
In the mid-'80s, the flimsy wall that existed between CCM and secular pop music was gloriously kicked to the ground when A&M pushed Amy Grant through the barrier. Others followed, and it wasn't long before the field of CCM expanded to include country, rock, metal, and even rap; however, the radio-friendly pop that began the whole influx was pushed backwards as faithful listeners complained about the lack of spirituality in the music, prompting artists to retreat and rebuild that crumbled wall with overtly religious and sentimental songs. It seemed the days of crossover superstars like Amy Grant were over, but Kristy Starling has arrived on the scene with a chance to break through to the masses once again. On her self-titled debut disc, Starling combines faint spiritual messages with pop music that reflects the sounds of Celine Dion or Faith Hill, and the results trump any recent release by a secular diva. The success of the disc begins immediately with the surging chorus and elegant strings of "Water," a song similar in tone and texture to Vanessa Carlton's hit "A Thousand Miles." Vocally, Starling demonstrates that she is prepared to take on any pop powerhouse, as proven with her soaring voice on the finale of "Broken" and the beautiful choruses of "Something More I Need to Praise You," a Diane Warren-style power ballad. When revisited in the context of CCM, a couple of recent hits get their meanings tweaked, as Starling sounds more natural than Josh Groban on "To Where You Are" and more convincing than LeAnn Rimes on "I Need You." All the elements are there for a hit record -- quality songwriting, understated lyrics, beautiful vocals, excellent production featuring famed producer David Foster, major-label backing from Curb/Warner Bros., and exposure from her appearance on NBC's Today Show talent contest. All combined, this successful debut should help escort Starling through the CCM crowd and into a world where pop music lovers can sing her praises as well. The word "star" is not simply part of her name, it is what Kristy Starling deserves to become.

    !Astounded & Amazed!

Kristy Starling is unexplainable (PERIOD!). Her vocals are to the extent where you are breathless, and that is why she offsets other divas. "Water" featured on this album, is surely phenominal. It is pure water that you will love and want more! Every song is breath taking. ^_^ THIS IS ONE ALBUM THAT ALL CHRISTIANS and NON-CHRISTIANS CanNot MISS!^_^

    Kristy is the new Diva

Kristy has a beautiful voice she is great and she sounds like Mariah Carey and Celine Dion if you love them you will also love Kristy Celine´s longtime producer David Foster descovered her and he produced mostly of her songs on this album. Kristy is the newest Diva and she will rock this planet soon.

    Wow!

Kristy Starling is an amazing person with an amazing talent. After finding out she would be getting her recording contract after seeing her on the Today show, I could hardly wait for it to come out. Then I heard her single "Water" on the radio, and without even knowing it was her, I knew I had to have the CD of whoever sang it. I was delighted to find out it was her. Kristy has an amazing voice, and the lyrics go straight to your heart. I recommend this cd to everyone.

    Starling rocks!

Kristy Starling definitely did an awesome job on the Today show, but she was a shooting "star" on this cd. She is awesome and the lyrics have so much meaning. It is an incredible cd and I highly recommend it.
