This album demonstrates all the aspects that listeners love and hate about KRS-ONE. It is full of insightful commentary on the state of hip hop, life in the 'hood, and his journey towards spirituality. The tracks on this CD are more refined than KRS has offered on his more recent works, and as always, he displays his lyrical artistry by using several different rhyme styles to attack several different topics. For those who "just want something to dance to", this is probably not for you (you will probably find it a little preachy). This is moreso "grown folks" hip hop, so instead of woman and cars, the album discusses God, the rap industry, politics and every day survival. An excellent break from the light-hearted escapism generally found on the radio.
