Children's Literature - Carolyn Mott Ford
A surprise ending adds to the fun kids will have as they read this book. There are clues throughout the book, but most readers, including many adults, will not catch on until the end. The text and illustrations by the author/artist are simple yet clever. The book also offers kids a smattering of phrases in various languages in a way sure to keep them interested. Jake and his dog, Ace, are stunned to see a spaceship land in their backyard. They are even more stunned when an alien, along with his alien dog, steps from the ship. Jake and Ace try to communicate with them to no avail despite advice from Jake's mom and dad. The problem is solved at the end, and it will not give anything away to reveal that the aliens are from the planet Noo and a page of Noobanese translation is included.
