THE TERRIFYING PROLOGUE TO KRONOS RISING

Barreling along a hundred feet beneath the surface, the giant predator gained swiftly on its prey. Fifty yards ahead, a school of chrome-colored fish fled terror-stricken before it. Measuring close to twenty feet in length, the enormous descendants of the prehistoric fish Xiphactinus audax were, themselves, top predators, each tipping the scales at over three thousand pounds. Compared to the whale-sized nightmare that pursued them, however, the toothy, tarpon-like creatures were little more than a snack.

Before the nightmare that would become KRONOS RISING was unleashed, it was first contained in . . . DIABLO.

Nestled off the coast of Cuba and shielded by impenetrable reefs of razor-sharp rock, stands Diablo Caldera. To the rest of the world, the extinct, bowl-shaped volcano is hardly worth exploring. But the caldera has a secret. Its isolated saltwater lake has remained untouched since the fall of the dinosaurs.

Inside this hellish aquarium are the deadliest marine predators the world has ever seen. Imprisoned behind towering walls of volcanic rock since the Cretaceous, and warded by a mysterious race, Diablo's savage inmates rule with flipper and fang the only world they have ever known.

But something is about to change. The prison that is Diablo is beginning to fail, and soon it will unleash into the unsuspecting Atlantic a primeval fury the likes of which it has never before known.

It is one hundred tons of death. And it likes to eat.

Max Hawthorne certainly knows how to tell and pace a fine adventure tale, in the tradition of Robert E.Howard. Don't miss this wonderful addition to the Kronos Rising series!
Sean Markey
Hawthorne's writing evokes a sense of awe and terror, tapping into a deeply-rooted and primal fear of the unknown.

Well, Mr. Hawthorne has done it again. In a short novella, he has managed to put the reader right where the action is. His writing style is flawless, his grasp of what his fans want in his stories is uncanny, his research is extensive and his imagination is, well, frightening. If you're looking for spoilers, you won't find them on my reviews. I will guarantee the reader will not be disappointed and the price can't be beat. If you're not familiar with Mr. Hawthorne's Kronos Rising series, this is an excellent place to start. After reading this prologue, you'll be wanting and needing more......order "Kronos Rising" and "Kronos Rising: Kraken". I promise you'll enjoy both and now I must issue a warning......you're going to be smitten with the Kronos Rising bug and want more. Well, more is coming.......Mr. Hawthorne is working on book 3 as this review is being written. His large and ever expanding fan base is waiting patiently.

Truly gripping prologue to Kronos Rising book one in the series by Max Hawthorne. It answered a lot of burning questions about the origin of the monster and what happened on the island. Best novelette ever. It was non stop suspense leading to pure terror. No spoilers but you will be gripping your e-reader with white knuckles while reading it. I was!
