Overview

Kumar Joe, the Singing Crow is the tale of a little crow who was born with a heart for music, but not a voice for it. After the esteemed maestro of the local bird's choir bans him from singing, Kumar must find the courage to overcome the social pressure and his embarrassment to reclaim the joy of music... and save the choir from a house cat along the way. Kumar Joe is a tale for all the kids (and adults out there), who've ever given up on something merely because they didn't excel at it. Kumar is a reminder that joy, in itself, is reason enough. Illustrated in B&W and broken into small chapters, Kumar Joe was written for parents to read to their children, however, parents might just find themselves reading ahead on their own.

Editorial Reviews

Jeremy Lott
They had me at the intro, by the end of the second sentence: “Human science has placed crows in the scientific category of songbirds, also known as passerine. Birds, however, know better.”. . . . It is a story well told and highly recommended.

Great book to read to kids, but enjoyable for quick read by adults also. I live in Washington State, so love that it takes place locally. Can't wait to see what David Boze writes next! Chris Hopkins' illustrations are excellent also. They make a great team.

I read this story to my 12 year old daughter. We both loved the story and the illustrations are great. A meaningful message of courage and using the gifts you have been given. A great story to read to a child of any age.
