Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Enid Portnoy
This “Nascar Heroes” series book introduces a driver named the “least popular” stock car driver. His personality and style in driving led to this “title.” By 2009, Busch had won nine races and a Nationwide Series race, and in 2013, thirteen races. Those were his good years. Then some trouble turns up, and aggressive driving and behavior make his driving time less productive for Busch. Busch is still hoping to win a Sprint Cup Title in the near future, so readers should look for his name in the news. Highlighted bold type and information, splashes of exciting colored photos of races, ride records, and wrecks give readers a feeling of the fast paced activity of stock car drivers. The book has a Timeline, a Glossary and glamorous, flashy photographs that will capture the attention of readers. Other headline drivers covered in this “NASCAR Heroes” series include Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth and many others. Stock car racing has a reputation for capturing the public’s attention, especially if the enthusiasm is begun at an early age. Any young person who has seen a race would probably enjoy looking at this book. . Reviewer: Enid Portnoy; Ages 8 to 12.
