Overview

The acrostic TULIP is immediately recognized by Christian scholars and theologians as the identifying label of the Doctrines of Grace (sometimes referred to as Calvinism). Once, this teaching flourished in popularity, especially at the beginning of the Reformation when every reformer, without exception, held to it. But during modern times, it has diminished in status. While the entire Calvinistic system has been the subject of periodic sclerotic comments, it is this middle doctrine (L) Limited Atonement or Particular Redemption that has been, by far, the most frequently rejected, vilified, and even lampooned. While the Calvinistic/Arminian debate continues, the pivotal question seems to have been neglected: is this L, Limited Atonement, found in the Christian scriptures and does it conform to everything we know about God's plan and program for the salvation of his people? It is the answer to that question that this work addresses.
