Antes de morir, su consigna fue: "Salvemos a un millón de niños nacidos en territorio estadounidense cuyos padres serán deportados por no tener documentos".

Como Luther King, Carmen Amaral, en su lecho de muerte, tuvo un épico sueño: "Que Estados Unidos llegaría a ser un país sin fronteras, sin alambradas, sin policías, una nación que tendería la mano generosa a sus vecinos en paz y armonía". Este problema es controversial porque involucra a 12 millones de personas cuyo destino está amenazado permanentemente con la deportación.
