Overview

Strikingly colorful images stand out in this intriguing pop-up book about pirates that shows a different side to little girls. One night, young Tom comes across an unexpected band of girl pirates stealing the front of his house—while he’s still inside—to disguise their ship. He decides to join them on their journey to claim the treasure guarded by grown-up pirates on an island across the sea. The vivid illustrations and simple text are perfect for beginning readers, and the nonstereotypical portrayal of girls is refreshing for readers of both genders.
