Esta novela eminentemente psicologica aporta al mundo de la ficcion y de la historia el esclarecimiento de los motivos de Felipe II para construir la Real Basilica de San Lorenzo en la sierra de Guadarrama a los pies del monte Abantos -en detrimento de la finca del Quexijal, donde querian los frailes jeronimos-, a pocos kilometros de la Torre de los Ossorio, donde edifico aposentos reales y casa con patio toscano para retiro y descanso de los hermanos jeronimos. Su fin era el de estar cerca de su verdadero amor y sosten psicologico.
Esta narracion esta fundamentada rigurosamente en los datos de decenas de libros y cientos de articulos, entre los que destacan los pertenecientes a Alexandre Parker, Henry Kremen y los del profesor de Historia Moderna de Espana en la UNED de Madrid, especialista en Felipe II, Gregorio Sanchez Meco.
