Un precioso diamante, conocido como la Piedra Lunar, es robado de la estatua de un dios hindú por un oficial inglés pese a la maldición que protege la piedra. Años más tarde, su sobrina, una joven adinerada de la sociedad victoriana, hereda la joya el día de su cumpleaños. Pero la piedra no viaja sola. Tres hindúes siguen sus pasos para recuperar la piedra sagrada. Durante la noche, alguien roba la piedra del armario de su propia alcoba. A partir de ahí, Collins despliega un tapiz tan complejo de sospechosos, posibles motivaciones e historias secundarias que surgen en sus testimonios. Su estructura epistolar y la variación de puntos de vista desde los que se narra la trama son recursos muy novedosos en su época.

    Excelente

    Profundo y ameno a la vez, permite entrar en la vida de Gide, en su pensar y en su sentimiento a lo largo de un extenso periodo de tiempo. Especialmente interesante la manera en que el autor vive las dos guerras mundiales. Muy recomendable.
