Henning Mankell
Henning Mankell (Estocolmo, 1948) divide su tiempo entre Suecia y Mozambique, donde dirige el teatro nacional Avenida de Maputo. Autor de numerosas obras de ficción y uno de los dramaturgos más populares de su país, es conocido en todo el mundo por su serie de novelas policiacas protagonizadas por el inspector Kurt Wallander, traducidas a treinta y siete idiomas, aclamadas por el público, merecedoras de numerosos galardones (como el II Premio Pepe Carvalho) y adaptadas al cine y la televisión (entre otros, por el actor Kenneth Branagh). Tusquets Editores ha publicado la serie completa, compuesta por diez títulos, y otras doce obras, entre ellas el thriller titulado El chino, XV Premio Arcebispo Juan de San Clemente. En Un ángel impuro, su novela más reciente, Mankell narra la peripecia vital de una mujer sueca que llegó a regentar un burdel en el África de comienzos de siglo xx.

Biography

Henning Mankell was born in Stockholm in 1948. He is the author of many works of fiction, including the nine novels in the Kurt Wallander series. He has worked as an actor, theatre director, and manager in Sweden and in Mozambique -- where he is now head of the Teatro Avenida in Maputo.
