Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Ursula Adams
The Teen Rights and Freedoms series consists of several volumes of books that address issues that concern today's teens. Topics include discipline and punishment, search and seizure, juvenile justice, and labor and employment. Each volume explores the topic comprehensively. The contents include a variety of articles that are relevant to the book's subject matter. Many of the articles stem from Supreme Court and other legal court decisions. It discusses the rights that teens have protected under the Constitution as well as the responsibilities that are associated with certain given freedoms. Examples of these are articles explaining: how teens before a juvenile court are provided due process rights under the fourteenth amendment; which rights are limited for search and seizure under the fourth amendment; the U.S. Supreme Court rulings on corporal punishment; and court rulings on child labor laws and minimum wage requirements. Each article is distinctly defined and clearly written. The books also offer a comprehensive index for easy referencing. For any teen wanting to know the rights and responsibilities they have as a U.S. citizen, these volumes will provide them with an up-to-date legal resource in a very user-friendly manner. The series would be a valuable addition to any library's reference section. (Teen Rights and Freedoms) Reviewer: Ursula Adams
