All Music Guide - Steven McDonald
Trevor Jones' music for this elaborate and ambitious Jim Henson/George Lucas production was filled with synthesizers blended cautiously into orchestral ensembles to provide a suitably ethereal tone -- one echoed very well by David Bowie's Goblin King singing the haunting "Within You" while stalking the film's heroine. This variant on the Persephone story, however, was treated as a half-hearted musical, with the Goblin King and his minions breaking out into raucous pop every so often, a tactic that undermined the tone of the entire film and upended the score. As the World Falls Down...

This movie has been a favorite of mine for almost a decade. The music is haunting, and incredibly poignant. I know the entire movie by heart, and I still find it sadly beautiful. It is a movie you will never forget. The soundtrack is inspiring. Just thinking about the music and lyrics to 'As the World Falls Down', and 'Within You' brings on a welcome melancholy.

    Nostalgic

How can you not love this movie. The soundtrack is even better bringing back that nostalgic feeling of when you first saw the movie. The songs sung by David Bowie are great and help with understanding his character a little and of what he's thinking. For example listen to Within You and as the World Falls Down. Favorite favorite is definitely Underground. Worth the listen and see the movie!!!! While I'm not a fan of David Bowie, I do like the songs he's done for Labyrinth and he can be a pretty good actor too.

Why Are Reviews Always So Negative??!!

I have decided, I am not going to write a negative review. I LOVE this movie, and the soundtrack is a good way to bring certain scenes and characters back. I like the variety of songs, and it's fun to listen to the music and place where it belongs in the movie. In the words of two familiar critics, ''Two thumbs up!'' :-)
