My Very deadly and disturbing......my kind of book

I was csptivated from the start. It had all the violence and gore I had hoped for. It has a lot of very disturbing images and horrific secondary stories thst keep a reader interested.

    HORRIBLE!!!!

I must first say I am a huge Jack Ketchum fan. Read all his book and "Ladies' Night" was the last one.

After two chapters I was lost. I even had to look up his book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble to see if maybe it was a short story book or if it really was meant to be a complete story.

By the fifth chapter there still isn't anything that ties the chapters together. We aren't introduced to any of the characters, unless you count telling us their names an introduction.

By page 74 I knew that if I were to put the book down and never pick it up again nothing would be lost. I wouldn't be left wondering how the book ended, or who was still alive/dead. It really is that bad.

The only real exciting part about this book is that I caught at least two glaring typos that made me stop and re-read the sentences over and over. With this book, not such a good thing.

Overall, I was hugely disappointed by this "story". It's in quotes because it doesn't have a plot. Nothing. The entire book is full of knifings, killing, and utter mayhem. But since you really don't know the characters you don't tend to care what happens to them. Okay he died, next. This reminds me a "story" an angry teenager would write. Lots of blood and guts, but no real substance.

For senseless, unencumbered, and undeserving violence... look no further.

There was a time I enjoyed senseless violence; say around my early formative years when I was so full of energy and watched many b-movie slasher flicks to serve my eternal hunger for stimulation. However, I was not so blind towards the acts of violence to deem them appropriate or, more often than not, deserving.
In a lot of ways I still crave that stimulation. I think we all do. Heck, just look at the popularity of zombie films. However, there are certain criteria that makes viewing, or reading, enjoyable. This book, unfortunately does not carry key elements for making a story enjoyable.
Foremost, likable characters or ones you can sympathize with are rare in this book. It's hard to even consider them and all characters in this universe viable people because they are shallow and quick to toss off their own humanities. Regrets are few and there even one-liners thrown as easily as dice.
I gave this book a chance, despite reading reviews about how ill the violence towards women were. After reading it, I totally agree. This book could easily be charged with an overly harsh subjectiveness toward women; mainly because it refuses to allow any sympathy or mercy for them.
Yea, this book reads like a heartbroken, petty, and extremely jaded teenage boy who wishes his ex would choke on one. I almost pitty the voice, not the author, of this book. The author only did a horrible job of realizing the potential of the story.
My suggestion, watch a b-movie slasher instead. If it's bad, take solace in the fact that it'll only take up two hours of your life, plus you can laugh at it with others.

    Ketchum does it again

Loving him! Just read my first Ketchum about four months ago and now I can't quit! He has a way of grabbing your attention and running with it. This isn't my favorite of his that I have read so far but a very good story and well worth reading.

Ladies Night Isn't for the Ladies

Though quite a few scenes are definitely terrifying, the structure leaves much to be desired.

Im a fifteen year old girl who LOVES crazy, gorey, incredibly violent literature. I couldnt put this book down for anything! I was a little confused at first cause it took me a while to figure out he story was being told from so many different points of veiw(which all ended up conecting somehow). Litterally jaw dropping and truely amazing:)

AMust Read for fans of the horror genre.

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It read easily and was easy to comprehend. I read it on the bus and loved when I got to a good part and verbally was like ewww gross and people just stared like I was nuts, LOL. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a true horror fan. Kudos to Jack Ketchum!

    A Good (but violent) Read

Ladies' Night is the second book I have read by Mr.Ketchum, and I found it to be infinitely more accessable than his other, The Girl Next Door. Ladies' Night has much of the violence you come to expect from Ketchum, but still has an entertainment factor that was lost in The Girl Next Door. This is a short one, and a little bit bitter, but otherwise a great read for horror fans, and anyone who wonders what all out slaughter on the streets of Manhattan might look like. Jack Ketchum is a sick, sick man.
