I thought the book was indeed interesting, but I find the real story this 'real story' was based on more interesting. Two girls from Cottingley, England, actually claimed to photograph fairies in the early 20th century and the 1917 photos were published in The Strand in 1920. The original photographs are quite interesting.

This was a fantastic book for any hardcore fairy lover. The pictures were very detailed and they were beautifully painted. I think that anybody, not just people that like fairies would love this book. Also, people that enjoy illistrations by Amy Brown would enjoy this book. It is truely a gem.

took me a while to realise what it was all about - the words let my imagination run wild. Would love to find out more about 'the truth behind the story' As for Fairies - im hooked

Well, parts of it were entertaining, but someone actually gave this to my relatively small child as a gift. Don't think that was too appropriate. You may want to confine it to the upper echelons of the twisted.

I adore this book. It's become a "classic" in my personal library; something I can read a thousand times and never be bored. I highly reccommend this book to anyone who believes in fairies...and to the skeptics, too.

I did not care for the display of naked women(fairies) in this book. I'm sure the story is a good one, but the pictures were awful. This should not be considered a children's book. To me, that is the same as pornography. I'm sure the story could be told the same way, and the fairies could be clothed. Thank you.

This is the first book of this type I have read and found it most delightful, exciting and fun to read. It was enjoyable to watch her grow up through the written pages. I now will begin again and read it over so I'll make sure I didn't read over anything to quickly.

The illustrastions are completely enchanting and the story itself had me in stiches. Although the humor is sometimes slightly dark its truly a great read for any fairy lover.

The wonderful illustrations drew me to the book, but the story is just as delightful. From this day forward, all my transgressions will be due to naughty Italian fairies! A must for every fairy fancier!

Someone showed me this book when they bought a copy for a friend. I checked it out in a bookstore, as well as Strange Stains and Mysterious Smells. Now, several years later, I am adding this book to my own wish list. This book has stuck in my memory all this time. It is amusing and just... well, gorgeous. I didn't realize until checking it out on bn.com that the author is from Monty Python. Everyone needs this book! Also recommended: Strange Stains and Mysterious Smells : Quentin Cottington's Journal of Faery Research by Terry Jones, Brian Froud(Illustrator)

sorry. That's lame...unlike the book. I absolutely loved it and it makes a nice addition to any book collection. Even the cover is unique in it's texture! The bound pages and your very own pressed fairy are truly inventive. I love Terry Jones *sigh*

This is one of the most 'fun' books that I have ever read....I bought it for a gift, then after reading it returned and bought several more, for gifts.... If you are sad, or down it will make you smile and lighten your heart...how could anyone be sad when looking at a delightful little fairy, looking up at you from the pages of this book? I was so enamored by this delightful book, I purchased several of them, and have decorated my entry way with these delightful little creatures, to greet me each day when I return home, or leave for work, I enjoy the way they make anyone who comes into my home to smile in suprise and delight.
