Overview

In Regency England, life can be a masquerade…

Lady Victoria Courtney has abandoned hope of winning the heart of the dashing Richard, Marquis of Lansdon, but fate appears to have other plans. On a journey to meet her new stepmother, Victoria is mistaken for a woman of the London stage and impulsively takes on the role. Before she knows it, she’s caught up in a masquerade, but when it’s over, will Richard believe she’s the heroine or the villain? Mistaken identities, separated lovers and love gone astray – it’s all part of the comedy in this Regency romance set in England during the time of Jane Austen. Originally published in hardcover by Walker and Company, Lady in Disguise has been lightly reedited for this digital edition.

Editorial Reviews

Romantic Times - Melinda Helfer
Ms. Diamond is one of the most consistently enjoyable Regency authors around.
--Romantic Times
Library Journal
“…a spirited romp … witty dialogue will help keep the reader hooked.”
--Library Journal
Publishers Weekly
“Diamond bows with a first novel, studiously following the recipe for a Regency romance but also stirring spicy bits of her own into the confection. … the author unravels all the entanglements neatly with all the lovers finally paired off satisfactorally.”
Regency Reader - Anne Glover
Funny romp, complete with mistaken identity, funny supporting characters, and relatively clean romance that is as sweet as it is enjoyable….I was thrilled to find another author, like Candice Hern, writing in the great tradition of the Heyer Regency.

Delightful and a very enjoyable read, it made me giggle at work

Delightful and a very enjoyable read, it made me giggle at work and my co-workers were very curious as to what I found so amusing. Lady Victoria is definitely not your typical “country mouse,” and I Love Henry! Lady Victoria wouldn’t have done wrong if she would have had to marry him, but of course, as in all of Jacque’s Regency novels, the heroine must get the man that she loves - even if he is stubborn and pig-headed in my honest opinion – and there must be a couple other mini romances between secondary characters that give you warm fuzzies.
