Overview

When the youngest Sharpe sister hatches a plan to gain marriage offers, the straight-laced Bow Street Runner Jackson Pinter knows he'll do whatever it takes to ruin her scheme...

Lady Celia Sharpe hopes that if she can garner offers of marriage from several eligible gentlemen and show her grandmother she is capable of gaining a husband, she can convince Gran to rescind the marriage ultimatum for her. And if that plan doesn’t work, at least she’ll have a husband lined up. But Bow Street Runner Jackson Pinter seems determined to ruin her plans by disapproving of every suitor she asks him to investigate. It’s only when she and Jackson work together to solve her parents’ murders, plunging them both into danger, that she realizes why—because the only man he wants her to marry is himself!

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
The last of the scandal-ridden Sharpe "hellions" to acquiesce to their grandmother's dictum that they all marry within the year or forfeit their inheritance, rebellious, independent Lady Celia reluctantly decides to choose a husband from among her current titled suitors. Unfortunately, Jackson Pinter, the annoyingly proper Bow Street Runner who is investigating her beaux as well as her parents' long-ago deaths, keeps getting in the way. Verbal sparks fly and sexual tension crackles as these well-drawn protagonists, plagued by their separate pasts, struggle unsuccessfully to resist their impossible mutual attraction and end up bringing down a killer in the process. This satisfying story ties up the series' mystery, sees all the couples happily wed, and possibly paves the way for future adventures of a new generation of scandal-raising Sharpes. VERDICT Wonderfully refreshing characters, a surprising resolution, and a sizzling, emotionally satisfying romance make this another must-read from one of the genre's best. Each of the series titles is complete in itself, but, because of the ongoing mystery, readers may wish to read the books in order. Jeffries (To Wed a Wild Lord) lives in Cary, NC.

    Not bad

Conclusion to the hellions series . All of the mystery surrounding the parents deaths are answered. Not bad for a light read. Had some twists I did not see coming.

    An excellent conclusion

So this wraps up the story of the Helions of Hallstead Hall with Celia Sharpe and Jackson Pinter coming to terms with skeletons in their closet and each other. It is a delightful read with plenty of action, romance, humor, and drama.

It's one of those stories that you wish you hadn't come to the end of the saga.

I'm looking forward to the story of the Earl of Devonmont. It has an interesting premise to the book.

Sorry to see the series end

Thought this was a good ending for the series, but I really didn't want to see it end. Would really like to see Ms Jeffries do more with these characters - to think they would go on with normal lives is not likely. Much rather her do a bit more with the 5 of them.

    Roamncing the Book

I'm a longtime fan of Ms Jeffries and have loved her Hellions of Halstead Hall series. I'm sorry to see this series end, but loved the journey and the conclusion.

A Lady Never Surrenders is the love story between the youngest sibling, Celia, and the Bow Street Runner, Jackson, who has been hired by Celia's family to investigate their parent's deaths. Over the course of the series, we've seen Celia and Jackson butt heads and it continues in this novel. However, all that fighting is just covering up deep seated feelings that finally bust forth. And really the only obstacle to the happy ending is Jackson's belief that he's not good enough for Celia.

Other than the love story, the mystery that arced the series finally concludes. As the series progressed, we learned tidbits of how each of the siblings remembered the events surrounding their parent's deaths. Because this is the last book in the series, we know the mystery must be solved. And it is. However, for me it was a confusing conclusion. I think the murderer came completely out of left field and I wasn't terribly satisfied with the explanation.

But that said, I really did enjoy this book and highly recommend this series to fans or regency romance. This series is best read in order due to the plot that flowed throughout, but it can stand alone.

Lady Celia Sharpe is the last of the "Hellions" to mar

Lady Celia Sharpe is the last of the "Hellions" to marry. If you know about the Sharpe family, you know that all of them but Lady Celia has married for love. Even though it seems impossible, she has 2 months left to marry a man and receive her inheritance. She insists that Jackson Pinter investigate the three men she's chosen. With the Lady making Jackson crazy, he decides to help her in this situation. But if you know anything about Jackson Pinter(Bow Street Runner) he won't give up on anything but keeping Lady Celia safe, even from himself. Maybe Lady Celia has met her match in this wonderful story of impossible love. I have greatly enjoyed all of Ms Jeffries books. Though this is the last of the "Hellions", I can't wait to read her next book.

    Amazing

Celia and Jackson's story was the best one for me. Celia shows us that she is strong and vulnerable in a way that can relate to us in today's world. All of the books in this series were cute, adorable, sexy and at times I laughed out loud. The twist and turns in the series kept you going without losing the love and romance of the couple at hand. I can't wait for Pierce Waverly's story. I'd also like to see Lyons find someone to love him too.

WONDERFUL ENDING TO A WONDERFUL SERIES!!

A LADY NEVER SURENDERS by Sabrina Jeffries is an exciting historical romance set in 1825 London. It is the 5th and final installment in "The Hellions Of Halstead Hall" series, but can be read as a stand alone. See " The Truth About Lord Stoneville","A Hellion In Her Bed","How To Woo A Reluctant Lady" and "To Wed A Wild Lord". What a wonderful ending to a wonderful family. Lady Cilia Sharpe is the youngest Sharpe sibling and the troublemaker,or so they say. She was only five when her parents where killed. But she has memories. Jackson Pinter,is a Bow Street Runner, who has been working with the Sharpe family to help find out the truth about their parents untimely deaths. Cilia's grandmother, gave each Sharpe sibling an untimatum to marry or lose their inheritance. So Cilia sets out to find her husband to be with the help of Jackson. Together, Jackson and Cilia will uncover secrets both about her family, their feelings for each other and Jackson's true identity. Passion ignites, and love blossoms between Cilia and Jackson. With strong characters, that have strong family ties and a plot full of twists "A Lady Never Surrenders" will not disappoint. A must for anyone who enjoys historical romance, with a twist.Received for an honest review from the publisher. It was a really good end to the hellions series. I was looking for Gabriel's book, but didn't enjoy it like the others. This last one was a really good one and as good as the others on the series. It was really worth the reading. I really recommend this book.
