Editorial Reviews

Jan Hardy
For years, DIane Stein has shared her kowledge of Women's Spiritualty in books such as All Women are Healers, The Goddess Celebrates, and Casting the Circle. Readers who have enjoyed these books, and those of us who love poetry, will welcome...Lady Sun and Lady Moon, a collection of poetry...published in various lesbian and feminist journals.
Lambda Award Nominee
Poetry, when it's good, is simultaneously personal and universal--quite a lot to ask from something that is often less than a paragraph long...I can recommend Stein's book unreservedly.
Shekinah Mountainwater
Poems are the flowers of our souls...Perhaps Diane's book will be part of the beginning of a new wave of appreciation for this art form.

The Rise of EclipseClan- Chapter 1 Part 3

"Eclipsekit hurt me!" Whitekit wailed, her paw attempting to grip her ear.
"Yeah, I saw her scratch it!" Shardkit agreed.
Mistyflower looked toward Eclipsekit, her normally gentle gaze obscoured with anger. "Is this true?"
Eclipsekit looked down at her paws, shuffling them. If she said yes, she could risk facing punishment, and if she said no, she could be accused of lying, and then face punishment once again. She decided on confessing.
    "Yes, but-"
"You do remember what I said about fighting, right?"
    "Yes…"
"You broke those rules. So you must be punished."
    "But Mommy!-"
Mistyflower gave Eclispekit a gentle lick on her ear, but her voice was still firm. "I know Shardkit and Whitekit bullied you," now it was Eclipsekit's brother and sister's turn to look scared, "but they didn't draw blood. The most they did was pin you down or bat you to the side. You hurt Whitekit badly." Mistyflower continued, motioning to Whitekit's mangled, silver ear.
Eclipsekit knew there was nothing she could do to protest. She looked down in shame, waiting for her punishment.
"Clawstar will decide what your punishment will be tomorrow at sunhigh. Be ready."
//Clawstar!// Despite the circumstances, Eclipsekit felt a surge of excitement. Mistyflower had told her about Clawstar and his mate, Nightflower, who had died while kitting. Eclipsekit always wondered where and who the unlucky kits were. Did they die along with thier mother? Or were they living among the Clans- or this Clan themselves?
"You're gonna get in trouble! You're gonna get in trouble!" Shardkit and Whitekit teased, the serious moment forgotten quickly in between the two kits. Furious, she padded back to the corner of the nursery, and flopped down on the dusty floor. //Stupid Shardkit. Stupid Whitekit! They got me in trouble!// She glanced at her paw, where brown, dried stains of blood still stuck to the white fur. //They even think I'm weak.// She gave a quiet hiss, her mismatched eyes gleaming. //Well, I'm not weak. I'm gonna be the strongest, smartest warrior the Clans have ever seen!//

Author's Note: End of Chapter 1!!! Remember to review and rate to see more chapters. By the way, I need a name for the Clan Eclipsekit is in at the moment! This Clan is like a cross between ThunderClan, WindClan, and RiverClan: They run fast, are skilled in water, and live in the thickest parts of the forest. If you have any name suggestions, post in your review. Thanks!! :3
