Overview

To get back at the man who insulted and refused her, Marianne Holton kidnaps him and forces him to marry her before she's sold off.

Spirited and virginal Lady Marianne Holton seeks revenge on Lord Blaise Gray, a man she has never met, for insulting her by letter and refusing to wed her. She plans to force his hand before she is married off to a man known for his cruelty towards women. Her plan for a forced marriage goes well, but she forced the wrong man. Instead of marrying Blaise, she married his handsome, thirty-six year old father, Lord William Gray, Earl of Graystone.

To her delight, the plan works. To her horror, she married the wrong man.

William, a lord who had previously given up on life, is enraged to have had his hand forced by a woman who had the audacity to not even know his true identity until it was too late, and he vows to make use of his new bride as soon as possible. However, he finds himself unable to destroy the fiery spirit that took charge of her own destiny, and makes a new vow to protect her from the scorned man who would have been her husband, and make her his true wife.

I bought this after picking up Lady Deception as a free book and reading that the story continued after Lady Thief. Lady Thief was only .99 and was almost 500 pages long (very important to me as I am a fast reader) I read it first and loved it. If you like historical romance where the herione has some back bone to her then you will like these two books. They can be read alone without missing anything from either story but I enjoyed reading them together.

Even though this story came before Lady Deception and I read it second, I can honestly say it was just as good as book 2. I loved reading Marianne and William's story of how they came together and it made me appreciate this series even more. Great read!

This is my first book by this author. I like the storyline. William and marianne characters were interesting. Although i don't like the ideal of a seemingly week Earl, it worked well in this story. The romance was great but not explicit. The one thing i did not like was who Williams HEIR will be.

After getting Lady Deception for free, and loving the book so much, i looked up other works the author has written and came across this. Although this is the first in the series and I read it second, I enjoyed it very much. Either book would be entertaining by themselves, but I enjoyed them together.

The 5* reviews must be by friends of the author. The conversations and scenes jump around and besides the two main characters no others are developed. Wondered if perhaps this is her first book? However, for $.99 its not a waste of money...now of it were a $1.99 it may have been. Nowhere near the correct page count.
