This board book seems to be made up of snippets from previous books about Ladybug Girl. A young girl dressed in red with wings and boots containing black spots is our Ladybug Girl. Why? (No answers are given.) Lulu loves the role as Ladybug Girl. Her goal is to make friends "everywhere she goes." Not only with other kids, but also animals like Bingo, her dog. Her friends seem to be in the same groove—Butterfly Girl and Bumblebee Boy all have on costumes. Ladybug Girl also helps her neighbors and, in this case, offers to carry a bag of groceries. It is all very positive, but there is no real story—just a series of pictures, statements, and then moving on. The cover of this board book with its cutout of Ladybug Girl and Bingo will certainly attract fans. Let's hope they won't be too disappointed with the lack of a real story. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
