Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Janet Morgan Stoeke
Wilfie has lost his teddy bear, and is told by a friendly shopkeeper that he should look for him in the land of the lost teddies. We follow Wilfie as he searches for Eddie the bear, and along the way are puzzles to be solved. Sadly, these puzzles drive the story line. Thus there is little to keep us interested in the story itself. Contrived elements abound and there is a real problem with the art style, which relies heavily on vagueness to hide the clues one is searching for. Even after knowing what I'm meant to find, I was never absolutely sure until I checked the answers in the back of the book. As an adult, I was annoyed, but a youngster would only be baffled, or worse, feel stupid for not understanding.
