Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Celso Agner, MD, MS, MSc (Michigan Neurology Partners)
Description: Current medical practice dictates constant investigation for supporting experimental and/or clinical evidence. This book details the groundwork for current neurosurgical practice, providing a detailed summary of the most important trials and studies in the field.
Purpose: The purpose is to discuss the current research and clinical evidence for the practice of neurosurgery.
Audience: Neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses, physician assistants, and professionals directly linked to the care of neurological and neurosurgical patients are the intended audience.
Features: Multiple authors give their personal insights into quality management and the clinical practice of neurosurgery based upon current research and clinical evidence. This is an important book, particularly in light of healthcare reforms in which evidence-based medicine will not only dictate the way we practice, but also how we get paid for what we do.
Assessment: This is an excellent compilation of classic papers that demonstrate evidence-based approaches in neurosurgery. It should be an integral part of any neurosurgical, neurological, or general medical library in institutions where neurological patients are cared for. It is well worth its price.
