Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nicole Peterson Davis
This is a book in the "Brushes with Greatness" series of books about paintings that highlights four painting genres. This entry in the series highlighting the genre of Landscapes looks at paintings around the world to show how landscape paintings evolved through the years. Scattered throughout this narrative are photographs of paintings that were influential or more important in history. Five paintings are highlighted in this book. They are St. Francis in the Desert, The Great Wave at Kanagawa, Mont Sainte-Victoire Seen from the Bibemus Quarry, and Christina's World. Each of these paintings is depicted on one side of the page with information about the painting, including a history of how it was made and information about it on the second page. This book would be wonderful in a history, humanities, or art classroom and very helpful as a resource for learning and researching paintings. The end of the book contains a glossary, index, and selective bibliography. Reviewer: Nicole Peterson Davis
