If you want to know about Meyer Lansky and his criminal organization then this is your book!. Messick does a fine job in describing Lanskys activities and his massive power base. The brain of the mob, Lansky surely was!. However Messick got a few details wrong that annoyed me a bit, so thats why I dont give it 5 stars. 'Lansky' is a good book, with alot of inside info on Meyer and his world of crime. Its most definitely a better account then Robert Laceys sympathetic nonsense book 'Meyer Lansky and The Gangster Life' which depicts Meyer as a sad broke gambler that never was involved in skimming, prostitution, drugs and god knows what else!. Read 'Lansky' by Messick and find out what Lansky really was.
