Overview

Puzzles so good that they've earned the seal of approval from the National Association for Visually Handicapped.

Now, crossword lovers with less than perfect sight can enjoy their favorite pastime without the frustration of trying to read miniature clues and fill in tiny boxes. Each of these puzzles—125 in each book—takes up two full pages, and have large type and generously sized grids with easy-to-see numbering. It's a challenge for the brain, not the eyes, allowing solvers to focus on doing the puzzle, not trying to discern the words. And, of course, the well-constructed crosswords cover a diverse range of topics, avoid "crosswordese," and provide hours of fun.

ABOUT THE NAVH:
The National Association for Visually Handicapped is the only national health agency devoted solely to the "hard of seeing." It's dedicated to the ideal that visual impairment need not lessen one's quality of life. The organization pioneered the development of an accepted standard for large print, and offers education, equipment, and 24-hour assistance to those with limited vision.

FINALLY...a crossword book that provides LARGE ENOUGH print even for people with extreme vision impairments!

My mother is legally blind, in fact she only has peripheral vision in one eye. As her vision began slipping a few years ago, crossword puzzles...her one 'vice'...were virutally eliminated from her life until we found Thomas Joseph's books. While other crossword books claim to be large print, Joseph seems to really understand the concept. As anyone who suffers with severe visual problems can attest, every little bit of increased size makes a world of difference. So while other books claim 'large-print (e.g. NYT omnibus) Joseph's line delivers. PLUS, his books have that wonderful spiral binding which is SO important for durability in a book that is used on multiple occasions. We've bought my Mom every volume and we are just waiting...literally, WAITING...for the next ones. If only other crossword editors were so attuned to the needs of the visually impaired! For anyone looking for the best of the best when it comes to crossword books for people who have severe visual challenges (and believe me, we've searched) NONE compare to Joseph's books.
