Children's Literature - Ramirose I. Attebury
Who knew there was such diversity to be found along the earth's coasts? This book in the "Observar la tierra" series lets readers explore a wondrous variety of examples. Beginning with a basic map to show where the world's coastlines lie, the book then moves on to explain what constitutes a coastline. Well-placed, colorful photographs, complete with captions and vocabulary words, provide helpful reinforcement of the concepts presented in the text. Readers will expand their repertoire of words related to coastlines: island, peninsula, isthmus, bay, cape, port, lagoon, and more. Erosion leads to many more unique features of coasts including arches, caves, and sand. Incorporating some of the concepts presented in other books in the series, such as volcano formation and life in tidal pools, the book could be used in conjunction with others or alone. With a table of contents, a glossary, an index, and an identification activity, this book would be most useful in a school library or classroom. Reviewer: Ramirose I. Attebury
