Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Traci Avalos
This is a good introductory book about stars to pique the interest of readers who might be interested in astronomy. While it is very basic and tailored for a young audience, it covers important aspects of stars, such as the Sun being a star and that the different colors of stars reflect their temperature. Resources are provided for readers who want to learn more about stars. The full page photos illustrate the concepts described on each page. This book is part of the "Pebble Plus/Capstone Press Exploring the Galaxy" series. It is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and includes a table of contents, an index, and a glossary in both languages. It also features close photo-text matches and a solar system diagram. The content supports national science standards and repetition of words for early readers. The series has a website where readers can find links to other age-specific sites about the content of each book. The website also has teaching resources, vocabulary, contests, recommendations for other books, and worksheets to supplement reading. Reviewer: Traci Avalos
