LAS SOLDADERAS: WOMEN WARRIIORS OF MEXICO
Imagine you are a twelve year old girl and a group of armed bandits bust down the door of your home, screaming and shoving you to the floor where they kick and beat you. Can you imagine the terror you would feel? Would you cry? Would you beg for your life? If you were Luna Sanchez, the heroine of this story, you would remain silent and prepare to die. During the Mexican Revolution, many young women lived through this very horror. Many of these women fought for freedom, filling every function in the society of revolution. This is their story.

About the Author

Linda Gillen-Connell has always had a love of books. She is the published author of two other books for children. As a child, she says she lived vicariously through the many books she read. Her favorite quote is from Amy Lowell (1874-1925) "For books are more than books. They are the life, the very heart and core of ages past, the reason why men lived and worked and died, the essence and quintessence of their lives." Recently widowed, she dedicates this book to her beloved husband of forty three years, Lott Connell Jr. Until his recent death, the two resided in El Paso, Texas, but Ms. Gillen-Connell currently resides in Colebrook, New Hampshire.
