Overview

Wrestling is the hardest most underappreciated sport in all of H.S. athletics. You wrestle for a team but you face combat alone. You are left against your opponent with no one to assist you and for all to see. Your weaknesses and failures are on display for all to see. It is a sport like no other. It is more a way of life, for once you have become a wrestler, you will always be a wrestler.

Last Chances tells the story of two wrestlers on their way to a state title. They carry the lessons of their coach, their fathers, and their past to bring them to that top step. It emcompasses their battles, their sacrifices and their fears.

Editorial Reviews

Mark Schultz
.... this may be the finest description of what wrestling is really like practicing day in day out. The mentality, the reality, the pain (I mean torture) is the bond that keeps us together as a team and isolates us. Winning and losing individually and alone is akin to going to war as a unit but dying alone...The words you've chosen are dead on accurate and I'm impressed that you've been able to capture the true essence of the sport.

Meet the Author

Over the past year and a half I've spent time writing a blog. I've been able to enjoy the wonderful responses to my essays and opinions. It's been gratifying to hear from so many who have been moved by my writing. I hope that there are parts of this book that are as equally memorable and touching. I hope you enjoy.

Hard to believe this is a first-effort novel. A compelling story in the world of a sport but well told so anyone who's dealt with loss and lessons can relate.
